The Mustard Seed is a group for adults with learning disabilities that meets on the second Saturday of each month from 2.00 – 4.00pm at Pocklington Christian Fellowship. We are an integral part of the Fellowship but welcome people from any denomination.
At each meeting we take the time to get to know each other, joining in music, singing, prayer, sharing, bible study and getting to know more of Jesus as our special friend. We do all of this in a language that is meaningful to people with a learning disability. Our meetings end with tea and biscuits and lots of chat and laughter. We believe that each person, regardless of disability, is an important member of the group with skills and gifts to share. We feel sure that this is how Jesus sees us and loves us ‐ all equally.
The Mustard Seed is affiliated with Livability – the lead Christian organisation in the United Kingdom for people with learning disabilities and their families. Livability works in partnership with churches such as ours to enable people with learning disabilities to feel welcomed and to express their faith in Jesus. It also aims to provide appropriate quality support enabling people to live their lives to the full and provides advice, support, training and resource materials to equip churches for effective ministry and outreach among people with learning disabilities who are dearly loved by God and often marginalised by society.
